I have been trying to get here for a very long time, I always get burgers, so I ordered the burger, unfortunately, I didn’t plan ahead to see that none of the reviews that I saw were for the burger, in my opinion this is an average burger, didn’t knock my socks off, but extra points for the tater tots
I like it here, friendly staff, I had a very good chicken salad hoagie on a 9″ roll at a decent price, looking forward to coming here more often.
I love the look and the positive vibe this place has and disagree with Yelps description of it being a “dive bar”…the prices on the menu are great and contains a burger and fries for just 7 bucks, I was in the mood for something different and ordered the Salmon cheesesteak which was delicious and contained shrimp and vegetables which basically makes it a salmon dinner inside a bun for only 10 bucks, great crowd and I will definitely be returning.
Every once in a while I look to try something new so in my travels I noticed that there was a long line at this restaurant and that usually means there is good food so I went inside. The 1st thing I noticed was how vast the menu is and it not only included traditional Jamaican dishes like Curry goat but they also had non traditional dishes such as cow foot and cow skin… I ended up ordering the curry goat and it was delicious even if you have never had it before the flavor made it something that everyone can like.

I had the french onion cheesesteak and it was delicious…Ive had french onion burgers before but never had a french onion cheesesteak so here is my breakdown
Roll–very fresh long roll
Meat–you can taste that it is very high quality rib eye from the 1st bite
Cheese–average cheese with an average portion
Flavor–surprisingly tasted like french onion soup which is what I was looking for when I ordered it
Great location near Independence Hall and steps from 2nd n Market st el stop.
I have been to most of the cheesesteak places in the city due to owning a food blog website and I have to say they have one of the best Cheesesteaks in the city. The roll is incredibly fresh and the cheese and steak go perfectly together. The best part is that from 11am to 3pm you can get this incredible Cheesesteak for just 5.75…Awesome Mega slice too!!!
I went here for restaurant week so let’s break it down
Caesar salad—very fresh….tasted like Kens salad dressing but I’m not sure
Filet Mignon–Great!!…asked for medium–outer part was medium-well but center was a perfect medium
Sides—I’m not impressed when higher priced restaurants serve string beans, I just think that they don’t show a chefs culinary skills…the mashed potatoes were excellent
Dessert–one of the best carrot cakes I’ve ever had
Overall a great experience with an incredible dessert so I will eventually return
I take alot of pride in finding good dive bars, corner bar on richmond st has an outstanding pork sandwich, the Abbaye in Northern Liberties has an amazing burger, some might consider the incredible burger that I had from Blue Moon Cafe on Richmond st to be a dive bar and I thought that was the best burger I’ve had all year….I walked into this very dark Kensington type bar not expecting much, I’ve been to hundreds of these type of places and only a handful are any good. Immediately I see the board and it says “rib eye” steak and fries just 7.99 my 1st thought was that it’s impossible for that to be real rib eye in a place like this, it’s so dark how the hell could they see to cook it lol…the cheesesteak came out and much to my surprise it was not only real rib eye but it was loaded with meat, just to give you an idea a real rib eye cheesesteak in center city is 9-11 dollars and there are no fries…my only complaint was that the roll was on the small size and sub par and the fries were boring but the steak and cheese were great and that’s what your paying for so who cares….I also had the grandma’s sauce and agree with everyone who says it was awesome….bottom line is that this is a great dive bar with incredibly great food and service.
I have been to the best Mediterranean restaurants in the city with my favorite being Zahav and I must say this place is fantastic!!…Outstanding customer service, great staff, friendly service….the owner let me sample some salads and they were all great and fresh!!!…I feel that New York style bagels are a step above the rest and they have great ones!!!…I also had the falafel and there are places in this city that have bad ones but not here….their falafel is great and goes very well in the pita bread with the Tzaziki sauce and vegetables….I shall return.
